Spirituality And Money – How do They Fit?

Does money make you happy?

I’ve asked myself and heard others ask this question a bunch of times…. And my best answer is: No, but they certainly help!

How many successful business people have you heard about throughout history, who ended up as a suicide, in prison, insane or otherways miserable? My guess is… it is a lot. So, I don’t blame you for thinking money corrupts you or makes you unhappy. But, history is also full of generous and caring people, who are wealthy beyond reason. We just don’t focus on the success stories, we tend to focus on the bad examples, because we are programmed to avoid pain. But the pain these bad examples have gone through, has nothing to do with money. These people would have been miserable with or without money, just as people without money can be miserable og happy. Money is simply not part of the happy equation. But if a positive, happy person do have money, they tend to amplify that happiness. Money in this case is often used to share the love and prosperity of the happy person.

So…. Money is important, very important, but they serve us and our purpose – not the other way around.

There is one important aspect about money and happiness I want to point out… Money is ment to be spent. Money in a jar is just paper or metal. Paper and metal don’t spread love or prosperity. You need to keep money circulating to keep the positive energy and happiness flowing. Also does money love speed… By this I mean, If you have a great project you want to start, don’t linger too long, or the energy will  disappear. When you are on fire by a new idea, you become magnetic and charismatic and money (and other resources) will flow to you… If you linger, the energy will go bad and have the opposite effect. So why do some people stuff money in the mattress? They do it to avoid the pain of becoming poor. But putting money in the mattress and not spend them on things that makes live fun, spread love and joy – has just the opposite effect – it creates the poor life, that person was so desperate to avoid. It really is so sad.

When you read the above paragraph, please don’t think that I encourage wasting your money on new gadgets or spur of the moment, impulse buys. That is just another way of not handling money the wrong way. Circulating money and wasting money are two totally different concepts. When I talk about circulation, I want you to think growth. Use money to grow your income, personal development, your community, your business or your means to help others… When spending money… think GROWTH or ENHANCEMENT. Money is like seeds… plant them in the right soil, give them the right amount of water, sun light and nutrients and they will pay you back ten-fold!

So how do you learn to handle money the right way so you get to be happy…. and how does spirituality fit in this equation?

Well, spirituality is all about seeing things from the big picture, creating happiness for all (not just you and yours) and spirituality is all about expansion (growth… but from the big picture). So you see, when you spend money on things that creates happiness for you and eventually a large group of people… you are spending money in a spiritual way. When you make money doing something that enhances other people’s lives and gives you a sence of fulfilment ( in a way that don’t potential threaten others or the earth at large) you are making money in a spiritual way.

But first you must learn to feel good about money. You must learn that money are not evil, they are simply tools that can be used for good or evil, just like a hammer. You must develop a sense of enjoying money. If you feel uncomfortable in any way, when you think about or handle money… you are telling your subconscience that money are bad, produces pain and must be avoided… so what happens? You either position yourself so you don’t make any money or, you WASTE your money when they do come your way…

And boy did I learn this the hard way… After my car accident, I got  around $100.000 from my insurance company… It took me about 3 years to spent all that money… Most of it I don’t even recall using… some was luckily spent on personal development courses and books, but if I had known then what I know now about money…. I would have made them grow and secured a recurring income stream, so I could spent money helping others in a big way today… I hope you don’t have to take this route in your life… but if it is part of your spiritual journey to learn this in a deep way (like it is mine) I give you all my blessings and encouragement… This route is full of bumps, but it doesn’t kill you… as long as you don’t give up that is :-)

One last point I want to get across here today is a concept from the Law of Attraction…. What you focus on grow. So, if you focus on NOT having money… and worry about it, complain about it and lose sleep about it, well… you simply attract more of NOT having money… Sorry.

If you have this behavioral pattern, the best cure is to spent time visualising what it would be like if you had money… But make sure you don’t visualize the “IF you had money” . Make an effort to really feel  wealthy in present tense… what would you wear, what would you eat, how would you spend your time, what would you not allow to interfere with your happiness, how would you spread the love… and so on.

It seems fake in the beginning, but it is a way of tricking your subconscious into loving money and the possibilities it provides and your mind will slowly perceive money as an asset not a theat and find ways to get it for you…. Trust me it works, but it might take longer than you think… It took me 8 years to totally reprogram my money mindset… I hope your journey is much shorter.
